Thank you; I was rather satisfied with the dramatic lighting I got for the little effort I put in, only had to crop.

Thanks. Is that your signature for all comments? There are significant commonalities here, Spielberg science fiction from 1977, and an R2D2 miniature was integrated into the greebles on the real mothership model for the film!

Yeah, I just use the group logo as a signature to promote the group - especially in cool Lego related places like underneath this deviation! Close Encounters is up there with Star Wars in my mind, both movies gave me loads of positive sci-fi awesomeness to think about while I was growing up. Haha, yeah I've heard about the R2-D2 thing before (never actually spotted it in the movie though) R2 was in the Well of Souls scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark as well (as a hieroglyph with 3PO) = he certainly gets around! It's a real shame Spielberg doesn't make movies like he used to!

I'm sure you also know that the hieroglyphic cameo made it into the well of souls Lego set. R2 is visible in the film but is not wholly recognizable as the iconic droid, especially because the model is upside-down. The confirmation probably originates from the Smithsonian at IAD, where the model is permanently on display with a card noting the inclusion of miniature airplanes, gravestones, a VW bus, and other casual easter egg throw-ins.
